Cell Phone Technology Developments
Every day phone technology breaks new boundaries. It seems like only last week that cameras where the latest gadgets on phones and people only dreamed of the internet on their cell. Some cynics claim that cell phone producers only wheel technology out that they have a had for a long time when they want people to buy a new phone. This may be true but it is still the case that phone technology is moving forwards at an alarming rate and it’s amazing how much rack and panel connectors they are now stuffing in those little boxes. So what are the newest advances we can expect to see in our phones?
Projectors. Rather than squinting at a tiny phone screen, how would you like to watch movies on your mobile movies on a 50″ display? Well the latest phones are offering just that and include a powerful built-in projector using LED buffer stop lights that can be used to project any image visible on the screen. The first to market this technology properly is Samsung, with their I7410. Which will be out in the US and UK soon. There is even talk of a newer version that uses new low smoke zero halogen cable technology that projects HD images.
Friend location. If you’re the kind of person who always likes to know where friends and family are, then Apple may have the answer. Their newest developments include a function that allows you to pinpoint anyone on a visual map who is linked up to your phone. You’ll be happy to know that people have to opt in for this service so people cannot just see where you are automatically, although caution is still advised.
Mobile Phones Are Making The World A Safer Place To Live
It doesn’t matter if you’re against them or have embraced them fully, mobile (cell) phones are now ingrained in our society. Their progression into staple tools of our lives has not always been a smooth one however. Certain groups of people claim that mobile phones are responsible for causing some cancers and others argue that they offer children a level of freedom that they are not ready for. However, what cannot be contested is the fact that mobile phones have helped connect people all over the world and in doing so made it a safer place
When mobile phones first came onto the market and were commercially viable for the masses, parents were faced with something of a dilemma. It was obvious that allowing children access to a mobile phone could be very beneficial in terms of staying in touch with them and finding out if they are OK. That said, there was always the possibility that children with phones were more likely to be the victim of theft and additionally, parents were unable to completely control how their children used their phones. After a couple of years it became obvious that the benefits far outweighed the risks, and soon every child in the developed world had their own phone on their bedside tables. The risk of having your phone stolen was also very much reduced when cell phone operators started being able to block phones from working after they had been reported as stolen. Children could now report in with their parents, phone for help if it were needed, and even warn others of potentially harm almost instantly.
The improved overall safety is not just limited to children either. Millions of adults have also benefited from using their mobiles to get out of dangerous situations, from being able to call for help after an avalanche, to delivering a baby via guidance over the phone from a midwife. By allowing people to stay in contact with those close by or the other side of the world, many thousands of lives have been saved and much harm prevented. As they develop also, we will find new ways of using them to our advantage and their potential for good is almost limitless.

All Your Technology In One Phone
Mobile (cell) phone technology has been accelerating at a rate of knots every since the first one hit the markets. Many people can still remember the phones that resembled large bricks and yet only had screens the size of a stamp. Nowadays however everything is touch screen and interactive. You can receive email on your phone, take high-resolution pictures and even play online games against someone the other side of the world. The advancement of the mobile phone shows no signs of slowing down either, and those in the know have suggested that before long, there wont be any room in the market for stand-alone gadgets.
John Moore, head of Advanced Technology at Cambridge University had outlined his vision for the future. “ I predict that very soon all the requirements of the modern way of life will be served by phones…technology is getting smaller thanks to things like mini Deutsch connectors and people are becoming ever more mobile, so it make sense that people want to carry their life in their pocket”.
Phones now incorporate MP3 players and as memory in phones is expanding all the time, 1000s of songs can be stored, making an additional MP3 player unnecessary. The cameras in phones now are catching up normal digital cameras, and can offer mega pixel specs of up to 10.0, have a whole host of different shooting functions and again, can easily store whole photo albums. Internet browsing has been made very easy on the latest phones, and many websites have started creating ‘phone-friendly’ versions of their sites in response to the growth in phone browsing.
Some critics have suggested that people will not want to give up the luxury of having large viewing screens like they do on their PCs, or TVs. However, Nokia have recently released a phone with an incorporated projector built in that can provide a screen size of up to 50 inches. It seems like it’s out with home entertainment units and cable ties, and in with nana processers and micro circuit breakers, powering some of the most power bits of kit the world has ever seen.
How You Ever Lost Your Mobile Phone
We never think it will happen to us, and then it does. In my case this has happened twice. I am, of course, talking about losing my mobile phone.
The first time was the result of a few too many beers on a boys night out. I’d been on my mobile while on my way home in a taxi and I think I must have left it on the back seat. When I realized what had happened, the following day, I called the cab firm but unfortunately they didn’t have my valuable telephone. I suddenly became aware of how much of my life was stored on that little device.
I vowed that I would be far more careful in future and get myself some mobile phone insurance to cover the cost of replacement. The cost of replacement was actually the last thing on my mind as I was more concerned by the lost telephone numbers and contact details.
We’re all guilty of doing it. When we run into an old friend or make a new contact we immediately enter their contact details into our mobile phones and often don’t even think about transfering those details to an address book.
The second time I lost my mobile phone was on another night out but this time I wasn’t the worse for drink. I am convinced that a pickpocket was operating in the club and they had expertly removed the phone from my pocket. It is actually more likely that I dropped it on the floor when trying to get some cash out of my pocket at the bar. I was in a nightclub so I told the bar staff and security guys but, unfortunately, my phone didn’t turn up.
Stupidly, I hadn’t taken out the mobile phone insurance policy that I’d intended to. But my experience the last time I’d lost my phone had led to my making note of most of the contact details on my phone.
You may be wondering if there is a moral to this tale? Maybe a little one. But I strongly suggest that you backup all of your telephone contact details and maybe get yourself some insurance to cover the cost of a replacement.
